Large Retrospective Painted Canvas Collages 2011

The May Suite is so titled as these ten canvases were made in May of 2011. Inspired by the oncoming good weather and the sense of growth that comes with this time of year.  In reorganizing my studio I had come upon several rolls of unfinished canvas from the 1970's, 80's and odd rolls of more recent unfinished pieces which offered me the possibility of making larger scale collages.

The Fall Suite, a group of fourteen, 40 x 30 inch canvases, was so named because hey were completed in the Fall of 2011.

The Polish Suite, a group of five , 40 x 30 inch canvases from 2011, was so named because they were completed in response to a request from a Polish friend for a commission for him and his daughter. They had liked a large work from the Easter Island Suite which was too large for their Rome apartment and their Edmonton home, so I set to work making some smaller work.

These 40 x 30 inch collages are the first of this size. These works have lead to my making more collages at this size and making some even larger collages, at 60 x 48 inches.
