The May Suite

The May Suite is so titled as these 10 canvases were made in May of 2011.

These 40 x 30 inch collages are the first of this size, and were inspired by the oncoming good weather and the sense of growth that comes with this time of the year.  In reorganizing my studio I had come upon several rolls of unfinished canvas from the 1970s and 80s, and odd rolls of more recent unfinished pieces, which offered me the possibility for making larger scale collages.

These works have lead to my making more collages at this size, and making some even larger collages, at 60 x 48 inches.
