I choose framing based on what I feel suits the work. A frame should ideally be neutral allowing the work to be shown off. A frame can also be made neutral by matching it with the interior decor of the space in which the work is hung. There are many possibilities which could suit any work; it is a matter of context which can be 'mix and match' or a strong theme, like dark wood or a steel and glass interior.
I have made a custom moulding for my collage works which can be finished in many ways. I like a traditional hand-made gold leaf finish for these works (see below), but custom finishes are available by request; please contact peacock @ shawbiz.ca
